Hello! I’ve been wandering around TH for a few months now so I thought I’d best introduce myself. My horn journey: I played my dad’s Conn 80A in the late 70’s from 4th to 7th grade, then saved my lawn-mowing money (not to mention birthday and Xmas cash) for a Bach Strad. Everyone HAD to have a silver horn like Maynard and Doc back then. The Strad got me from 8th grade in to college. I enjoyed concert and loved jazz band but *hated marching. Alas, back then you had to march to play jazz so….. After college I had to sell the Strad to another student to help fund a car while dad’s Conn was relegated to deep storage until about a year ago when I came across it in the basement while looking for something else. So I busted it out and wouldn’t you know it, muscle memory got me 95% the way thru our HS fight song. Crazy. Of course the valves were sticky so I cleaned her up, replaced all the corks, etc. and here I am at almost 60 slowly attempting to get back in to it. From then until now I’ve been playing guitar all the while. The perfect trumpet tone for me has been and always will be Clifford Brown. Specifically Stardust with all its dynamic range from breathy to mellow to borderline sizzle. Cheers! |

Welcome and thanks for the personal history. Come join us on the Comeback Forum, too!
Enjoy the journey... I've been "back" fifteen years after a twenty five year absence _________________ Kanstul F Besson International 800 Bb
