I voted for the Charlie Davis, but I use a Denis Wick almost exclusively because that's what every section I play in uses and blending matters.

Denis Wick mostly because evenryone, their mother and their mother's favorite cello player seems to own one here, so section blending is easy when you have one. They're also quite affordable and there's a ton of them used for even less.

Of the ones on the list, I prefer the Charley Davis. It gets a nice sound and is available in different colors.

I use a TrumCor straight mute most of the time. I really like the sound and intonation, and it blends well in the section. I have one with adjustable corks (like the S-Mute) that offers a lot of versatility.

I have more mutes than I can deal with, but my Tom Crown copper bottom straight mute gets the most use for Bb, and my TC aluminum D trumpet mute for my Soprano cornet.

Of these four choices, Charles Davis followed by Denis Wick a close second. That said, I keep using my Tom Crown straight mutes more than anything else. I also like my Bach Elite stainless bottom.

My go to straight mute is the Wallace all copper. It’s got some heft to it so I can lean on it and it holds together, not too bright but plenty of edge available. Everyone that’s tried it has ended up ordering one!

I voted Jo-Ral (aluminum) because that's what I owned. The favorite in my area seems to be the Tom Crown copper bottom. They do sound good, but I'm not pulling the plug until I really need one.

Plain aluminum Tom Crown almost all of the time.
Bach Elite stainless bottom with that internal cone - when I want a really clear brilliant but not bright sound that projects.

Peter Gane. Lightweight, great sound and intonation.

Not a fan of Wick mutes in general, haven’t tried the others in the poll.

Jo-Ral copper bottom or a Denis Wick (depending on what the other player(s) in the section are using..
Recently the Protec Carbon Fibre straight has become a fav of mine - great sound quick response.

IMO very important to match in a section - i.e. Wick's, Jo-Ral blend well with each other.. Tom Crown, Soulo-not so much.

So, in reality, it depends upon application and who you're playing with
