Hi

In checking the availability of Bach 183 flugel horns in the UK for someone, I found the following:

Last one! This line is discontinued.

Last remaining UK stock. A new Bach flugelhorn model is due for release in 2024.

Taken from:

https://www.rosehillinstruments.co.uk/p/183L/flugelhorns/vincent-bach/vincent-bach-183-flugelhorn-lacquer

I see that the Bach 183 is no longer on the Conn Selmer website, the only flugel being the Conn Vintage 1.

https://www.connselmer.com/instruments/brass/cornets-and-flugel-horns/5637169422.c

Does anyone know about the replacement Bach Stradivarius flugel horn? Will it be a 185?

All the best

Lou

A 185 is a herald trumpet.

So, the Bach Stradvarius numbering system is:

180 - Bb Trumpet
C180 - C Trumpet
181 - American style cornet
182 - Old flugel with a cornet wrap
183 - Flugel
184 - Short Model cornet
185 - Herald Trumpet
186 -
187 -
188 - Bass Trumpet

I wonder whether the new Bach flugel will be a 190 series, so maybe the 193.

Take care and best wishes

Lou
189 - Long Bell Eb

The Bach catalogue numbers do occasionally get "recycled". The 190 number recently used was originally the small bore (0.401") Eb/D trumpet which usually had the 304 bell.

Thanks very much, so I'm presuming that the new flugel will be a 190 series, maybe the 193, if there is not already a 193.

Take care and best wishes
