I picked up this Getzen cheaply in a local auction house to me in the UK. Serial is K129186 which puts it at 1989. It has all the looks of a 300 series (no 3rd slide finger and similar braces) but the only other number I can find on it anywhere is "186" on the 3rd valve slide. Its also presented in a matte brushed nickel look with the inside of the bell and slide accents in polished silver.

Does any one know if this is a 300 series or something a bit different?

Not sure how to upload images so link to auction here...

186 corresponds to the last 3 digits of the serial number. Don't know what model it is. Look at their other horns to see if any others have a moveable 3rd slide ring, or just send an e mail to Mary Rima at Getzen. She will look up the serial number and tell you what model it is.

From the shape of the receiver and the lack of tuning slide brace I'd guess it's from the 300/400 line that someone refinished and bead blasted.

How much did you pay?

Mary beat me to it. The 7000 was basically a 300 series trumpet they head blasted and nickel plated to eliminate the cost of buffing and lacquering. It also hid cosmetic defects. This was an attempt to cut costs before the company went under a few years later. Obviously it didn’t help.

There aren’t many of them out there so there’s that.
