I have a tremor in my hands as a side effect from some medication that I take. Has anyone else had this problem? How do you deal with it?

I’ve had a tremor in my left hand for about 10 years that slowly has gotten worse. Starting in my right hand slightly now as well.

If I don’t focus on it it’s not a problem. Usually works best for me to keep most of the weight of the horn in the stable hand. Eventually it may get bad enough such that I’ll consider taking meds for it if the side effects are minor.

There are devices that hold the weight of the horn but I don’t know how effective that would be for a tremor.

You may want to ask your doctor what options you might have.

I have this at the start of playing, but it disappears as I play. I will anchor my elbows against my body to minimize effects. If you do a search, you will find a company that has a product that provides an anchor point, I might look into getting one of these eventually.

Thank you both. I will look into my options. It's good to know that I am not alone.

I have a condition called Benign Essential Tremor, which got to a stage where it sometimes was difficult for me to use cutlery in the morning.

When I was 25 I got fed up with it, and saw my GP who has me taking a Beta Blocker called Propranolol, which helps alleviate the tremor greatly, and also eliminates performance anxiety!

There are options, and you're definitely not alone on this one!
