In your experience, when you're shopping for a used instrument/equipment, where is the best place to find a deal (and by a deal, I mean the instrument being looked for is sold at a fair price, or if you're lucky even a really cheap price)?

There are a ton of obvious of places you can look (TH Marketplace, FB Marketplace, Reverb, Craigslist, Goodwill, Ebay, pawn shops, garage sales, estate sales, thrift shops, etc.), as well as all the instrument shops, repair shops, and other online vendors.

While I enjoy the thrill of the hunt, spending a lot of time trying to find the best deal can end up wasting a lot of time, which is why I'm asking.

Until very recently, I lived in San Diego. So it was very convenient for me to drive over to Horntrader (Steve Dillard) to try stuff. I bought and sold several horns over the years with Steve, a terrific guy to work with.

NOT here (TH) ... unless you are Bach-related shopping.
