I posted asking where to play a lot of horns and someone suggested the ITG conference - thanks

Anyone know whether or not I need to pay to attend the entire conference to brouse the vendor area - or is that open to the public

I do hope to attend seminars and concerts but don't know if my school schedule will allow it

Also - are all major trumpets present and accessible for trying out

And - can you buy horns - or are they just there from manafacturers standpoint

Thanks

You will likely need to pay the conference fee in order to get unrestricted access to both the conference programs and the vendors booths.

Yes, the vendors would be delighted for those attending the conference to try their products. And this is the ultimate opportunity to try nearly every brand of trumpet on the planet. However, it's not the best PLACE to audition a horn. But you can at least get a general idea of how this or that horn plays for you.

Yes, vendors will sell you almost any product they have on hand. I know, I've spent a ton of money at these conferences, including horns. The only exception that I've encountered was with Schilke. They seemed to only want to show their products but not sell them. I tried to buy a flugel mouthpiece from them once and they wouldn't do it. Oh well. But I think all other vendors would rather sell their stuff than haul it back to their shop.
