I think my experience will be like most, my flugelhorn range is the same as my trumpet range, but it does seem a little easier on the flugel... jbqd

I slightly disagree. My range is on flugel is not as good as my main Bb horn do to the V-shaped deep cup of the flugel mouthpiece. The rims on both mouthpieces are the same in this case as well (Laskey 68's). If I use the same trumpet mouthpiece on my flugel however, I may have one or two half-steps of added range on my flugel ... it's just a little more free-blowing.

My "performance" range is lower on my MYF (mellow yellow flugelhorn) due mainly to the deep V and open blow. I can get the same range, but the flugelhorn just doesn't sound right up there to my ears. So, I'd rather get nice dark sound in it's range, than push it up where it don't belong. YMMV - Don
