Regarding advice/opinions in this forum about testing several of the same horn to pick the 'sweet' one........
I have noticed quite a difference between 'identical' horns attributable, I believe, to disparities between the relationship of the receiver to the leadpipe, which affects the relationship to the mouthpiece. I have seen variances a bit over 1/16". The slotting was adversely affected.
As if there isn't enough to think about! Any similar experiences? |

Oh,yeah! And the difference in playing is huge. It reallly points out why it is worth the price to buy from a custom maker. If you could buy a factory horn in raw brass then you could get these disparities adjusted by a good repair man without ruining the plating. _________________ Dave Wisner
