Hi. As you can tell, i play on a Holton ST200 (.465 bore). I have noticed that the horn is incredible bright. At a softish mezzo-forte, the sound will start to spread and gain a lot of edge. At first I thought this was just me, but my cornet and fluegel sounds are incredible dark, as well as my tone on any decent C or Bach. I'm looking for a used large bore C, or a very dark B flat with a large bore and preferably a copper bell. Help me please. |

What mouthpiece are you using for the trumpet in comparison to the other instruments? |

I use a Vacchiono 2B on everything, but sometimes switch to a 2c if I tire on a lead gig. |

Almost every horn maker offers a rose brass or gold brass bell. There are a couple of Yamahas, the Conn Vintage One, Bach, Kanstul and maybe more in new horn models. They are a little dark sounding for me, so I can't help you much more than that.
