My band director just bought me a CD of Wynton Marsalis's London Concert. On this recording, Wynton uses an E-Flat trpt with a C trpt bell. I dont really know much about E-flat trpts, but I was just wondering what effect this had on the horn and the sound. |

To me, it looks like Wynton is using his Schilke E3L with the standard bell. It also sounds like the standard horn. |

On the CD, it said that he was playing on a Schilke E-flat with a C trpt bell. |

The C tpt bell on an Eb horn really darkens/deepens/broadens the sound. Use whichever word you'd like, it just makes it sound "less small." I'm trying to save up enough to get C bells cut to D, Eb, F and G.

Wynton has a bach 229 bell on his E3L
The Schilke E3L Comes standard with a #4 bell - it is not unusual to have one ordered with a #3 bell (same bell the B3 comes with).
Heck, Herseth has a huge #1 bell on his (probably one of the few that could control that setup)
