I currently own a Conn Vintage 1 and recently discovered that it takes its lines from the Conn Victor series of horns.
If a guy was in the market for a Conn Victor horn what should he look out for? What were good years for Conn victors?Any bore/bell combinations better than the rest?
Thanks in advance for your help and understanding. |

Actually, I believe the Vintage One is patterned, to some extent, after the Conn 40B, the famous Conquerer, which was also known as the Vocabell. It was the horn of choice of the Duke Ellington trumpet section in the 1930s. Erskine Caldwell played one as well.
As far as I know, no 40Bs were made after the early 40s.
Best source for info on all the Conns is Christine Derksen's "The Conn Loyalist" Website at http://www.xs4all.nl/~cderksen/ _________________ Jim Hatfield
