I'd give anything (not literally) to own one a vintage Olds trumpets (in any model) in finish #3 (see the catalog sheet)....

...I have never seen a factory gold plated Olds nor have I ever even heard of one in existence. Anyone?

I wonder if Zig Kanstul could provide information about how many were made in that finish? Meanwhile, I'll be glad to gold plate one of mine and trade for something in your fabulous collection. Conn 10B perhaps?

I don't know that Zig was involved that early on, 30's - early 40's? Actually 2 of the 10B's (one is a 10A conversion) I own are for sale.........when compared to the price of a new ax what I am asking for these horns is more then reasonable......such high quality! All the for sale stuff is on my website.

I have owned a factory bright silver Mendez trumpet and still have an Ambassador cornet in satin silver, but have never seen a factory gold. I have never known how much more these optional finishes cost, but apparently not many people opted for the special finishes during Olds' heyday.
