I own a Getzen 994 eterna Bb Bass trumpet. It has a very unique sound not unlike a valve trombone but much smoother and sweeter. I'm not that good on it, but it's fun to play. A friend of mine who has great trombone chops and doubles on trumpet can really work some magic with it. You should see some of the looks I get when I pull that giant trumpet out of the case! I'm thinking about selling it since I don't have much time yo play it. It's a pretty cool horn to play in a jazz setting...Kevin |

I have had a Bach Strad Bass trumpet for a year now. Quite a challenge to switch to a 'bone mouthpiece, but I can get some pretty good sounds out of it. Cetrtainly has a great effect at rehearsals when you haul a big horn like that outta the case.
I also have a valve 'bone and am still deciding which I prefer, the bass trupmet has a much softer darker tone for me.
Grab one off ebay and try if you can

Eclipse XLR Scratch Gold
Wild Thing SP
Kanstul 1525 Flugel
....and many more!!!
Try everything in life at least once...................except incest and folk dancing! |
