Is it as dangerous to do as it is to remove silver plating? I was able to hunt down and play on an old friends unlaquered and stripped conn 38b and it plays like a dream. Same 38b openess with the response of my bach 37.
Assuming that I can't strip the nickel myself could someone suggest a good place where I could have it done?

I played on one of those horns all through high school and college and figured that the nickel silver was one of the things that contributed to the fat sound. If you have to have the removal done electrostatically or some harsh chemical way, would it not be easier to have the horn relacquered?

I have already stripped the lacquer off and found that the horn responds better then it ever has before. Since I played on one that was also stripped of the nickel I can say that the same fat sound was there, only the response was better.
