I realize this is a long shot, but I have an Olds Recording with laquer wear on the valve buttons, stems and bottom caps. I'd like to replace them with nicer looking parts. Where can I get them?

go to ebay, and run a search. There is a seller that lists parts, and from time to time has a lot of Olds parts.

The person you may wish to contact is this one from eBay
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=ez4u2bcool&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50

I've bought Olds parts from him and I know others who have too. Good transactions!

Thanks for your help. I did contact him. He has the parts I need, but they're from Olds horns other than the Recording (Ambassador, Special, etc). These will match well with the Recording? These are similar quality parts?

Some parts may be available from the Allied catalog. I don't have it with me now to look. If you haven't found anything yet, send me an email with what you are looking for and I will let you know what is available and how much. Click the email icon below for my email address.

Mark,

If you pick up parts from Ez from other horns, they will most likely match - many of the Olds parts are interchangeable. Ask him for a pic first to double check.

The other thing is, why don't you just get the parts you have relacquered?

While you are correct that parts off of an Ambassador will physically fit, they do not have the same shape and are different parts - especially a newer Ambassador. If you don't collect and just want something that looks nice, the Ambassador parts are fine. The Ambassador parts are available new from the Allied catalog, probably cheaper than you will get them used (maybe $3 a button?). Just replace them all as a set. If you want, I will trade some brand new parts for your used parts.

Brook Mays or someone else (J Butler's former shop) can do that for you if all you are wanting to do is relacquer. I thought you had metal wear.
