It says it is a cornet, but it seems to be missing a few curves, and has had a few additional "valves" added. Anybody ever seen one of these?

It's a rare and mysterious Holton Victoy Clarifrumpet in silver. They made the Victory line of instruments around the turn of thte 20th century. The silver bodies were an attempt to solve the wood moisture cracking problem. They have a thin tone quality, but are great for making lamps!

Hope this helps

You're kidding, right? Don't mess with me, I'm very gullible, Gilligan.

Looks like it would make a great lamp.

Definitions acording to Gilligan:

Clarifrumpet => a clarinet trying to imitate or wanting to be a cornet.

Buzzing on the mouthpiece can be hazardious due to the possibility of bamboo splinters in the lips.

AARRGGHHH!!! A metal clarinet. For $20.00 you can fill it full of peanut butter and use it as a bird feeder.

You may laugh but "back when", brass clarinets were used by some European armies as being more durable than metal ones. One of our band members has one that he found somewhere in his travels. It has an "interesting" tone...somewhat akin to a soprano saxophone. Plays well in tune however.

Here's an interesting story about them as used by a jazz band in New Orleans:

So the next time you sit near a clarinetist.... check for termites!
