Does anybody have any experience with changing the leadpipe of theyre horn. i own a conn vintage 1 with a standard leadpipe and i was thinking about a bigger one. who makes the best leadpipes, would they fit any horn? are there any negative effects? |

Scary, that's what changing leadpipes can be. I have only worked within the same manufacturers parts when changing pipes eg. Bach and Calicchio. If you like the sound of your horn try a different mouthpiece and change the backbore, throat or cup, if not a new leadpipe will change the sound and the way it responds to you. I am not familiar with Conn but know there are lots of manufacturers out there who claim their leadpipe will "improve" your trumpet, you will need to be the judge of that and it will cost you a few bucks to see if that is the case. Some of the better known manufacturers are Blackburn and Pilczak, others will add quite a few more to these. Mark _________________ Calicchio Studio 2

Doesn't Conn offer three different leadpipes for the Vintage 1? Seems like you should be able to make an educated guess with the three pipes Conn offers.

I put a 43LR on a Bach 37. Excellent results. Conn does have 3 different lead pipes, check with Conn.
50 is the most open. |

Conn offers a 34, 46, and 50 pipe for the Vintage One Series trumpets.
You may want to try a 50 if you want something a little more open. _________________ Joe Gaspar
