I am considering GOLD Plating my Schilke B-1 and would greatly appreciate your recommendations regarding who does a great job with this type of work ... pictures also if you have them. I read a post regarding "drunkiq" and a place called "Pettifor" (sp?) Any recommendations?

Out of curiousity, why you would want to gold plate your B1?

The horn should look beautiful when its gold plated. One of the guys who is getting a lot of attention because he does such a great job is Charlie Melk. His contact information is:

Charlie's Brass Works
P.O. Box 510064
New Berlin, WI 53151-0064
charliesbrass@wi.rr.com
(262) 827-1515

There are many great places to send it. Depending where you live there are some fine repair guys. Rich Ita in Atlanta, Lee Adams @ trumpetchops.com in Atlanta, John Lynch in Nokomus FL, Robb Stewart in LA, Kanstul Musical Instruments in LA, Charlie Melk, Pettifors in Elkhart IN. All of them can get the plating done well for you.

Good Luck!

Mike

DO IT! I can't tell you where to go, other than Anderson's, but the best B1 that I ever played was GP.

==================

If you are referring to the B1 we both like, it is an old Anderson job. I would also seriously talk to Kanstul. They did a wonderful job on a (once rough looking) Bach for me.

Mike

added: The Bach is bright silver, not gold. Still a great job anyhow.

Lee Adams did a fantastic job on my Warburton mpcs so I was also thinking about letting him do my Schilke.

John Lynch did a great job on my Lawler, very reasonable and a 10 day turn around. He's also very interesting to talk with.

Rusty, how old is your Schilke, and did you notice a significant difference in the performance after you had the Reeves Alignment done?

Yes, that's the B1 I was referring to. (Don't you dare sell it without calling me).
