There have been a lot of posts on this subject. Tom Turner's has contributed a lot of useful information and experience. ( I just bought an ATM33a based on his advice.)
I'd like to share this very informative Web site that a firend of mine in the recording business brought to my attention:
http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/jan99/articles/brass778.htm
I be interested in reading any feedback (no pun intended) on the advice offered at this site. |

I liked it, but probably only because it says the same things I've been sayig for years (larger <diaphragms> is better, mic further away, get the mic off the direct line, etc.)
I also found the discussion of how instruments work interesting.

Hi,
Very good link on mic selection and technique of brass instruments! This guy has "ears" and experience.
Sincerely,

Isn't the Royer advertised as being fairly rugged, too? How do you think it'd survive live work, if that's true?
