You've all seen it: instruments the seller doesn't know what it is.

Here is a Conn 6B Victor, probably mid to late 1960's judging by the case (can't tell without a good serial number):

Hi Christine,
I talked to them today about this horn and the serial No. is H23727 so that must put its
build time before they moved to MacMillan(bout 66), still not sure if its a 6B but pretty certain

Actually that serial dates it to (very) late 1965. And that is definitely before MacMillan. Admittedly something around 1959-1962 would be better, but overall not a bad vintage. I'm pretty sure it's a 6B. Looks like a coprion leadpipe and nickel plated valve casing. It's got to be a 6B Victor.

These poor listings can result in bargains.

Some ways to mitigate risk:
Perhaps the seller will send you more pictures that you can blow up and examine more closely. Ask some specifics about how the valves work and if all the slides can be pulled out, etc., etc. If you like what you hear, then bid low.

unfortunatly I already have a 22B on the way (50's model) and anyway bayers is just up the road so I could go and look at it if anyone was interested
