i tried posting this in the lounge, but it didn't take. i am moving to san fran, and need a teacher there that will offer actual guidance, someone that can listen and hear where i need to concentrate. i am a comeback player, and i cannot seem to find my own way. thanks to any and all.

I believe that Mike Vax is in the Bay Area. I will try to find his contact info in my files. He is a great guy and good teacher.

I'm sure it will be one heck of a drive
and
I've never had lessons from him
but
from everything I've heard
if
you live in CA you need to take lessons from Shew!!!

thanks for the suggestions guys, i had no idea that all three of those guys were out there. do you think that they are approachable enough that i could just call and get a lesson? that's my only concern. again, thanks for the info.

Mr. Shew was sooooooo helpful and friendly, but couldn't help me since we are 3,000+ miles apart!

I have a personal address for him, but wouldn't feel right posting it here, if you know what I mean?

When you get to the Bay area, look up John Worley Jr., as he is a great player, big band leader, jazz player and an all around great guy. I think you can get in touch with him thru the Bay area local of the musicians union....
