I wrote some trumpet trios, quartets and quintets for regular trumpets or with a alto trumpet and bass trumpet (see my website).
The difference between a basstrumpet and a valve trombone is de sound. The trumpet sounds more like a ....... trumpet. _________________ www.erikveldkamp.com |

Is a bass trumpet written in treble clef Bb? That would make it harder for a trombone player to play. Now a Treble Clef Baritone player would have no trouble.
Lots of trumpet quartets written for four trumpets (usually the Bb variety). For example see: http://www.ibowtie.com/storesibeliustrmpt.html

We have a trumpet quartet at school (Hartt). Mainly they have just been transcribing vocal works for quartet but I know pieces have been written for the genre. Try checking out Robert King (http://www.rkingmusic.com/) |

The Mancini Trumpet Quartet books are your best bet. I think Colin publishes them. They are for all similar trumpets (i.e. C, Bb, etc.), but if you want to play them on different horns, I guess you could.
