THers in the Chicago area (or anyone visiting Chicago Sept. 1st) might like to join the Jazz Institute of Chicago's 2004 Jazz Club Tour, which kicks off the 2004 Chicago Jazz Fest Sept. 2-5.
For just $20 you can start at any of 13 local venues and, if you wish, take a special bus to any of the rest. Theoretically you could hit all 13, including Andy's, Hothouse, Green Dolphin Street, Buddy Guy's Legends, Cotton Club, Green Mill, Jazz Showcase, Joe's Bebop Lounge, Velvet Lounge, Pop's for Champagne, Old Town School, and the Chicago Historical Society.
Guest artists/bands include Ira Sullivan at the Green Mill, Paul Wertico at Hothouse, and a lot of lesser-known but very talented players at other stops along the way.
You'll find more info at http://www.jazzinstituiteofchicago.org
