Chances are, all of you have seen the early movie version of THE MUSIC MAN (musical) staring Meredth Wilson at one time or another. But, did you catch the funny line which mentions Mendez' name?
Mendez had nothing to do with this movie, but he was friends with Wilson. Wilson ad libbed the script a bit for this humor, simply to zing his buddy, Mendez. After the movie was released, Wilson asked Mendez if he noticed the little ad lib. Yes, he did.
Can anyone describe the scene and quote the line?

'all the really great cornet players were irish...o'clarke, o'klein, o'mendez..'
or some such.
i also enjoy the scene where harold says he's expecting a telegram from rudi friml; in the new version it's from hector berlioz!
