Playing this in a band, how do you play those... what ever they are, in the intro! Is it a fast arpeggio, or some kind of lip slur? _________________ Yamaha 6310Z - 14B4

It's more of a rip up to the high A than an arpeggio. |

How do you perform a rip, complicated? I guess the most important thing is to nail that A...
Argh, the only things I have down is the soli theme up and down the a-blues. Somebody save me pleease!
Is the other riff just a thrill on D#/E and then to an A? _________________ Yamaha 6310Z - 14B4

Just played this on my "comeback gig" after 10 years back in May. The rip is simple. Just start blowing aiming for the A but go 3, 2, 1+2 super fast ending on the A. I never scoped it out, but I think you'll end up with soemthing like E-F#-A or maybe the harmonics are such that you'll start higher. Anyway, it's Just like you're strumming your fingers on a desktop in annoyance of someone, but ending on 1-2 (A)!
The other riff is a 1/16 note triplet from D#-E-D# then down to C and then A If my memory is correct. I believe technically it's a "Grupetto". Arban's page 91-93 or so??? (Somebody help me here).
The important thing is don't rush it or it sounds bush-league. And make sure the darn Saxes don't rush it either. (They'll rush anything that doesn't take more than 2 fingers to play!) Just practice like a eighth and 2 sixteenths. the D# eighth, C-A sixteenths, to get the timing of actually how slow it can be, and then add the other two notes. D#-E-D# in place of the eighth note, then the C-A sixteenths. (I'll check the chart when I get home to verify the notes).
I have the entire part transcribed by a guy who transcribes for Harry Connick. It was spot on. If you need to see it, let me know and I'll fax it or scan and attach it to email. _________________ Ray

He described it good, I "roll" my fingers from 3rd valve twords 1and2 and it works pretty good. Jungle boogie is a sweet tune |

Thank you! thats exactly what I needed to know, now I just need some practice to get the riffs solid. The rhythm is tough, you're right! The saxes were playing it as two triplets... _________________ Yamaha 6310Z - 14B4
