We got to play some film scores from Star Wars (Not the theme stuff) today in our honors band class... wow! that was fun Anyone ever played these in an orchestra or band before? Lots of fun, you should suggest it to your conductor if you havent! I'm not sure where he got the sheet music though, but we have a guy that writes our marching shows and stuff for us, so he probably wrote it out I guess.

Roddy, Roddy, Roddy... "OLD GUY"?!? Just watch your step, son, next time y'all are in my neck of the woods! As for "wise", good grief! You, suh, are sorely confused. As my Grandmother said, generally when Grandfather did something she found vexing, "Age doesn't necessarily bring wisdom. Sometimes it just turns young fools into old fools!"
My version, original so far as I know, is: "Experience is acquired by making lots of mistakes. Wisdom is learning from them. So far, I've lots of experience!"
In an attempt to stay on topic, the Colorado Springs Symphony did some Star Wars (and other show tune) stuff recently. While I couldn't go to the concert, I got to see a lot of the music at my lessons (my teacher is Principal) and my eldest boy and I got to sit in on (watch, not play) the dress rehearsal. Hard stuff, but a lot of fun to play! One of the few times my teacher used an assistant. (Lots of other heavy stuff on the show, too.) _________________ Don Herman/Monument, CO

Really what part of the score? My youth symphony is playing the theme, leias theme, vaders march ( SO FUN ) yodas theme, and the throne room, and ours only goes up to a C#. All those Es sounds like fun though!

The pieces werent titled, but just had numbers at the top, like #1,#2, & #3, so I dont know the pieces' titles. Apparently whoever arranged it didnt know either You could tell they were from star wars because our director told us and it had little themes hidden in the music. I know one was the Forest Battle... it sounded pretty bad when we sight read it, but still fun. Still havent figured out the other 2 though... hmm

Funny Don. Hey you know this stuff is expensive. Complete set and score for star wars a new hope $675!! but it's fun to play and you truly need a good band. _________________ Andrew Fowler

Yeah we sight read some star wars music at the end of last year, just like every other year. The music was fun, but there are others that I found to more fun then them. _________________ SCHILKE
