Frederick Remington played in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra trumpet section in the early years of the orchestra (2nd Trumpet 1923 – 1935, 3rd Trumpet 1935 - 1941). He was the father of Emory Remington who was the Professor of Trombone at Eastman School of Music for 49 years.
This is what Emory Remington said about his father from the Donald Hunsberger book The Remington Warm-Up Studies:

My father could play the most beautiful cornet you ever heard. He could play, and solo, and I never heard anyone sing more than he did on an instrument. He said, “Play just the way I do with the valves; don’t let it (the slide) get away from you.”
