Hi all,
My apologies if this has been beaten to death in other threads, but...
I was curious how any of you use sound sleeves, and how you like them.
I'm testing out the Curry Megasleeeve or Monster sleeve (depending on the mouthpiece) and like them so far. I get differing results depending on the horn/mouthpiece combination, but overall, they seem to add more sonic presense, focus and I think a bit darker, concentrated sound and better response. Some combinations are quite apparent, others very subtle.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play them in a large room as rehearsals don't start for another week for the groups in which I play, so it'll be interesting to see how they soundin a larger hall.
Another fun toy to fool around with _________________ Always find some time to practice!

i played around w/ the chepies that holton has, it def gave a diff feel but i never noticed a change in sound to be honest, i do know that when i started working on lip flexabilities (lip trills) i was having massive issues w/ getting clean quick trills, my private teacher said to take the thing off, wow what a differance removing it made all the differance in the world for getting those lip trills down.
which would mean i belive... that slotting is a lot tighter when you have them on... good in some ways unless it gets you to the point that you can't get there fast enuff.
i keep them around in my case just in case i feel like expermenting w/ them again, which i'm sure i will but at the moment i still have memories of the till problems in my head :-/

I liked my old mega sleeve for my bach pieces to me it sounded more clear. But to my audience(dad) it was more muddy and it was very clear without the sleeve. So I know that isn't to inspirational but hey, if it sounds good to you who cares.... _________________ Andrew Fowler

The super sound sleeve or the one which exceeds all sound sleeves and was about 2,000 years ahead of it's time.

It is hoped that the site is still active. If not, I have a picture which I can post. Some one let me know how to do this if the site above doesn't work.

I had a sleeve... It made my mouthpiece look funky. Unfortunately, thats the only good thing it did. my flexibility suffered and the slots were too "stiff" for my liking....
It's now a paperweight on my desk....
'Nuff said...
