|
|
I'm looking for suggestions on pieces to program with a chamber string ensemble: something like a string quartet, piano trio, etc... It can be from any period and fairly difficult (but NO BRANDENBURG!!)
So far I'm thinking of Ewazen's Quintet for Trumpet and Strings, his Trio for Trumpet, Violin and Piano, or possibly a baroque sonata or concerto with the orchestra part reduced to string quartet/quintet (Torelli or such).
Any other ideas, pros, cons, stories, whatever?
Thanks!

Quiet City is the first one that jumps into my mind. What a great piece.

There are Saint-Saens and D'Indy pieces that you should explore. |

Hovhaness Haroutian is nice for trumpet and strings. Also if you just want trumpet and cello, the Yves Chardon Sonata is wonderful! Very fun to play! |
