Well, guys and gals, thanks to all your thoughtful and thought-provoking posts regarding comeback players and trumpet instruction, I have finally been able to work "Dad's horn lessons" into the family budget. My first lesson is next Tuesday!

I have been blessed in the two plus years I've been on the Comeback Trail (and reading TH) to have met or heard of several good players and instructors in the Atlanta area, so it was a bit of a dilemma to figure out from whom to pursue lessons. As much as I hate living in the city (or more specifically, in the suburban sprawl) I guess there are some advantages.

The only other time I had trumpet lessons was in the sixth grade... my mom used to have to rush me from baseball practice, hit McDonald's for a Big Mac (a rare treat in those days) and on to the shopping center with the music store where I met the instructor. I don't remember much about those lessons, but obviously Mom wasn't impressed as I don't think those sessions lasted more than a month. I never took lessons again... that was in 1970!

Thirty-five years is not too long to wait, is it?
