I've a spoilt upper left lip (very very weak such that I cant buzz without air escaping from it). Wondering if someone could explain in greater detail how do I go about using the Maggio method, and whether the lip buzz (with Maggio's) would sound the same as the normal lip buzz or a mouthpiece is required to produce the buzz.

For the best explanation, pick up the book at http://www.maggiomusic.com .

Nothing magic about the Maggio embrochure, it's a basic a puckered embouchure, which is what you're learning as you when playing pedal tones properly. The benefits come from maintaining the same set-up as you ascend across the other registers of the trumpet. Contact Carleton MacBeth via the link provided above. He's very open to talking to players and will give you as much input as you want via phone, generally at no charge. He's a great guy.
