Hi Roddy!
Kurt burned me a cd of this guy some time ago and he is a hot player. Great Latin stuff and all. Somerimes he seems to take things 8VA when its not really needed, but what do I know? There appears to be some other very good players in the section also.
Missed you this time in Florida, hope you and Allison can make it next year!

I listened to a bit of his playing on trumpet stuff. He has a very opaque sound in the upper register. It's refreshing to hear someone how can play upstairs and still have that strong core to the sound. On the flipside I didn't think his improvisations were very creative, but then again, I just got a brief overview in low quality sound. I must say I am intrigued.

Hey Bill, if you have listened to his "Mattia's Walk" cd (latin jazz music and the "Maynard Ferguson" concert) you must know that he has recorded ALL the trumpets in all the sections, with the overdubbing. So the other trumpeters you are talking about are good because they are...Tofanelli himself!

Andrea is mentioned in TH in five different forums.
I am unable to access your web site Roddy to see if you have an interview of Andrea.
He has informed me that he studied languages; so, his English a pretty good for an interview from you to post on your site. He has a very interesting story about his mpc and his meeting with Maynard Ferguson.
Andrea's sound on his flugel is so clear in his CD Mattia's Walk which is his tribute to Maynard Ferguson. His other CD, Ricordo Di ... Napoli is really latin in flavor.
Do you have an interview of Andrea, Roddy? Please give him my regards.
All the best and have a good and safe weekend.
