Has anybody ever done the Ruebank Method? It's a method book for about 2 bucks, donno if the price necesarily depicts the quality or what. Anyways I've been doing it lately, while waiting for Arbans to come in. Seems decent, although I have nothing to compare it to Just curious.

Hey, I've played the Rubank method, and I liked it alot, if you can find the Advanced Method, there are a lot of great etudes that give good focus on scale work and playing in the different keys. If you got it for 2 bucks you got a good buy in my eyes. Good Luck! |

I also played the Rubank books when I was in Middle School. My teacher really enocuraged me to work hard eventually I graduated to the advance rubank book wich really helped me allot but then I started to do arbans and other stuff like that.
In middle school they usually took our etude audition piece for the county band out of the rubank books. I really like the books and for 2 bucks you should get it. _________________ Jorge Ayala Jr: Trumpeter/Producer

I used Rubank in high school 20+ years ago. When I returned to the trumpet about four years ago I dusted off my old books (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). They contain good exercises broken into reasonable chunks (lessons). The cover price back then was $1.75. Sounds like you got a deal.

I was playing out of the Advanced book the other day. It's a good change of pace and adds variety to my practice sessions. |

I use the Advanced Rubank Vol I, though mine cost a lot more than 2 bucks! It's certainly a lot easier to lug around than the Arban though.

In the advanced method (Volume 1) a number of the exercises in the "Articulation Studies" section are excerpts from St. Jacome and Bousquet. Lots of good stuff in the books. I have a number of my students working from the Rubank series. _________________ Ken Roe
