Howdy all, I have a question about lip corners.
I am going through an embouchure change, from an open aperture setting (mostly farkas) to a more closed setting aperture. One of the issues I am having is playing smoothly from the upper register down below a low C (2 lines below the staff) and back up again.
I notice that my corners are much closer together when I play high. (My definition of corners: the center of the lips vibrate between the corners and where the buzz stops, the corners begin). So when I play low, I have a much greater lip buzz area than when I'm playing say 2 octaves up.
My question is this: Is this normal, or should I strive to keep the corners the same regardless of register?
If this is normal, can I just expect that I'll be able to make the transition more smoothly with time and practice? |
