SF Mahler 6

I recently got my San Francisco Mahler 6 under MTT and I am very happy with it. The orchestra is so clean and polished, yet the music is still very well conveyed. The trumpet section is outstanding and Mr. Fischthal sounds awesome! Anyone else heard this recording? I highly recommend it.

Matt,

If you like San Fran playing Mahler 6, check them out doing Mahler 2...bar-none the best Mahler 2 recording (and I have 4 of them) that I have EVER heard....not only is Glenn Fischthal the man, but the ENTIRE BRASS SECTION rocks....there is nothing quite like it!!

Thanks Louie! I'll check it out. I've also heard the Mahler 1 recording and it is very very nice as well. San Fran and MTT seem to be doing quite well with Mahler and just about everything else these days. I've heard that their Copland set is fantastic too!

I think that San Fran is probably making it's way to be one of the best orchestras in the world (I guess it already is, but it's not as reputable as the NY Phil, Chicago etc.) Craig Morris came from there, so that says something...

How are things at TCU Matt? Been a long time no see!!
