There are all kinds of stupid rumors about Fred Rogers floating around. None of them are true. Check out www.snopes.com _________________ Music is a fire in your belly, fighting to get out. You'd better put a horn in the way before someone gets hurt. |

Sorry, here is my serious answer. You really should learn to validate your facts before stressing over an obvious hoax or posting it on a public website.
Better? |

One thing I have heard is that he was a hero on Iwa Jima. _________________ "There is no necessity for deadly strife" A. Lincoln 1860

i heard he was a heralded army sniper and the reason he always wears long sleeves is to cover his sleeves of tattoos on both arms. _________________ Lots of people believe the Big Bang theory. Chuck Norris said it was a case of bad gas. |

Absolutely appropriate. You should check your facts before propogating rumour and innuendo over the net.

I think the one who made that up was president of the MRAFC (Mr. Rogers Anti-Fan Club) - if it exists, that is. _________________ To the praise of His glory!

This is the sort of rumor-mongering that really irks me. The first question one should ask is, "Is this even remotely plausible?" Considering that Fred Rogers was sixteen years old when the marines landed on Iwo Jima, the answer is clearly "no".
Sorry, but this is really a pet peeve of mine. |

Actually I think that one is true. A link was posted quite a while ago to a youtube video (that is now taken down maybe because it's copyrighted) and Mr. Rogers did play trumpet (well, cornet) and Mr McFeely takes a tour of a trumpet factory. _________________ "Music is a combination of logic and emotion that together express more than either could possibly express alone." |

I remember one where he visited the Empire Brass, and that entire episode was brass-related (except for the make-believe part, I think). Anyway, I think he played trumpet on that episode, too. _________________ To the praise of His glory!
