I can play 3 octave F#, G, A, and Bb. Not G# though. Just doesn't lay well. _________________ Joe Petrocelli |

=P D (pedal) F (pedal), F#, and G. In a semblance of rhythm, anyway. _________________ "Never practice, always perform."

I do C-Eb three octave scales. Starting in the pedal range with all valves down and slides out, its more of an ear training excercise waaay down there. |

I hope you guys mean 3 octaves as in 4 tonic notes.
For example:
3 octave 3 scale would consist of 4 Cs, not three.
Bravo to you all. _________________ Maybe you didn't practice your instrument today, but remember someone out there did. So you know what you should be doing, could be doing, and what you're capable of doing. |

I think what most are getting at here is that they start on low F# and run to F3 above high C, and so forth up.
I can do up to Bb - that is, 3 octaves starting on Bb below low C, up 3 octaves. That would include 4 Bbs.

I can do F# to about A. I obviously mean the low F3, everything below is pedal and that is cheating _________________ Blue Devils |

I think I have read that Adolf Scherbaum played a three octave D scale at some of his concerts - strange thing to play, I have to admit. |

The original question was supposed to mean:
If you start on F below low C (that is the lowest I can go without playing pedal tones) can you go up three octaves? (to F above high C)
I can do this all the time. I have been working on starting on G and that happens most of the time but not all.
I just thought it's a cool thing to be able to play three octave. We could call it the three octave club and you have to be advanced enough to do the scale to get in. _________________ Joe Spitzer

To paraphrase an old Woody Allen line from the 1977 movie "Annie Hall",
I don't want to belong to any club that has such low standards that it would let a person like me into it.
- morris, who can do the 3 octaves up and down in one breath although it sounds like crap |
