I think I've found that the players that I know that play on the red (including me) normally have big lips. I think it affects the endurance of players that use a lot of mpc pressure but I think its okay for those that don't. I'm not sure whether playing on the white of the lower lip and the red of the upper lip helps to improve the endurance for the high pressure players. What do you think? When I move the mpc up my range suffered and tone. But that was when I was playing with a very open setting. Now I'm working on superchops and bringing the mpc up a bit doesnt seem to affect my playing, but my tone still sucks anyway because I've changed only very recently and I think it will take some time, so I'm not sure of the effects of bringing the mpc up or leaving it down there yet. |

If you are working on Superchops then you should check out the Superchops Forum on Trumpet Herald.
This is the Reinhardt Forum and more often than not, the methods taught by Superchops are in direct conflict with the Pivot System.

Yes, I know SC doesnt approve the use of a pivot system, but I'm just curious about mpc placement, cos I don't know of any big lipped sc'ers yet. |
