|

Hi all:
The TH Marketplace re-opens today after a two-week hiatus.
Due to recent security concerns, all ads and all Marketplace accounts have been removed and we're starting with a clean slate.
You can now add up to five photos to each listing on the system. This should improve the usefulness of the listings greatly.
There is a new procedure for activating accounts. You will have to create a 'security phrase' and PIN to access your Marketplace listings.
The PIN is self-explanatory, it's a four-digit number that you'll need to provide to place, remove, or edit any adverts on the site.
The 'security phrase' is different. It's simply a sentence or two about some unique information you'll recognize about yourself. Maybe your dog's name, or your birthplace, or your favorite horn.
You'll provide this when you activate your Marketplace account. Thereafter, that phrase will appear on computers on which you have managed your Marketplace listings.
If you see your correct security phrase, you can have pretty high confidence that you're on TrumpetHerald.com and not getting phished.
If your phrase isn't available, it may mean that you're on a phishing site. Check the url of the page very carefully and don't be tricked! However, it probably just means that you're using a different computer or web browser to access your listings, or that the cookie needed to display the phrase got deleted.
If you see the wrong security phrase, or no phrase or warning at all, there is a high probability that you're on a phishing site. The only way to see an incorrect security phrase is if you're logged into TrumpetHerald.com on an account other than your own.
TH will never send you a note that your Marketplace account has been de-activated and that you need to visit a certain link to re-activate. And, we'll never ask for your PIN and your regular login credentials on the same page.
Sorry about the increased complication for managing these ads, but it's necessary to protect users as much as possible. In the present-day web, small sites are now targets as well.
Oh, and there might be some bugs, so add a post here if you find some problems with activation, photos, or anything else.
Thanks,
td |

I'd like to thank the sponsors and administrators of Trumpet Herald. Too often we don't take a minute to say 'thanks', but this site has given a lot of us a lot of information and inspiration over the years.
Having the Marketplace open again, with the new guidelines, will enable us to continue to trade with each other in a, hopefully, more secure environment.
Thanks ! _________________ Dennis |

As an author of a trumpet book, I am definetely interested in advertising here. I have tried a couple of times in the past to contact the administrators here and have not received a response. I am still interested. Any suggestions? _________________ For Online Lessons via Live Video, email

Matt,
Todd's (username trumpetherald) the only guy who can help, and he gets busy and things get lost. The best thing to do is probably to PM (email, call) him until you get a response. It takes time and patience sometimes; TH is not his full-time job (though sometimes it seems like it!)

Many thanks for all of your hard work on getting the marketplace going again. With the new security guards maybe more folks will avail themselves of this valuable service. I'm planning on putting a horn on there in the next week.

Maybe I'm wrong, and I apologize in advance if I am, but it sure seems to me like we're seeing results of the phishing expedition - john thyhsen - and the beginning posts of other scammers- eyeshieldsuper.
I'm starting to believe the "shut down the marketplace" contingent has a valid point.

Again, many thanks for the improved marketplace. I listed a flugel a few days ago and the listing process went very smooth. I really like being able to add pics to the listing since before everyone would ask for them to be sent. I really appreciate everything about this site.

I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this site.
I was a member before and let the membership lapse.. thanks for letting me back in !
I just bought a horn via this site and I'll have a few of my collection to sell to balance things out a bit in the financial column.

Anyone help me ?
I activated my account and the Marketplace let me upload my AD for a Schilke XA-1 Cornet with pictures.
I don't see it.
What else do need to do ?
Actually, I did it twice since I thought I had pilot error the first time.
