I picked up Robert Sullivan's Treasures for Trumpet CD at ITG last week. There is some outstanding playing on it. Everyone should check it out! If you're feeling really daring, check out David Childs new CD (he's a 22 yr old euphonium player) Metamorphosis. He is a freak! _________________ Matt Cyr

That Robert Sullivan recording is Ridiculous! There are times when he changes tonal colors and you'd think you are hearing an english horn or somthing else! Also...there are some really great transcriptions (Gershwin stuff).
The scary thing is...he sounds even better, Live! |

Anyone know why he left New York? Will the Cleveland job allow for more Principal work? Just curious, not trying to start any controversy.

Someone posted on here a while back that he had won the Assistant job in Cleveland and had accepted. If this isn't true then I apologize. no one rebuffed it then so I took it to be true.

When someone has a orchestral job and they win another job, it is standard procedure to take a leave from the first job until they get tenure with the new band. Tage Larsen's name was still on the St. Louis Symphony's website last time I checked.
The first orchestra will usually hire a replacement, or have an audition for a 1 year spot.
