Bob Reeves "earned" the right to remake the great Purviance line. I have a P8 that is a fine mouthpiece.
Reeves' newer mpc's, one-piece or 2, are excellent. Reeves knows trumpeting.

Glad to see someone post about the Purviance mouthpiece. I had a 5*k4 back in the 70's and early 80's... had it opened up .. don't remember how much.. but I really liked it. I have been tempted to get another one now that I am playing again... I don't know what I did with my old one.

Cozy, is the P8 the same as the what the 5*k4 was... I'll have to take a look on the Reeves site again.

I guess the 8 is the same as the 4*k4. I had the 8A (5*k4) although I wasn't aware of the mouthpiece having the description that it shows on the Reeves site..... "Ideal for the player who needs a larger diameter but not a deep cup. The "A" model is designed to meet the exacting demands of the symphony artist."

I think I tried the 4*k4 once.. I seemed to remember it as strictly for screaming.

A few other guys also played the 5*k4 and none were symphony type... all big band or jazz oriented players.

I've been playing an original old gold plated Purviance #4B and am very happy with it. In fact, I'm having the folks at Kanstul make a "woody" copy of it.
