I have an Al Hirt autographed Lebanc trumpet that we have had for many years. It is in pretty good condition. Would anyone be able to estimate its value? The serial number is 12101. It looks like the one at this web site: http://sarasotaschools.org/sje/alhirt.htm. Thanks for any information you can provide.

I wouldn't trust any number but that from a professional appraiser who specializes in music memorabilia and does *not* offer to buy it off you. _________________ "Stomvi" PhrankenPhlugel w/ Blessing copper bell

Is this another "how much is it worth" before putting it on eBay question?
If so, put it on eBay with no reserve and find out.
If not, go the professional appraiser route. There are a lot of autographed fakes out there. Some are obvious others are not. A professional will know what you have and how much it is really worth. _________________ Rob,

We need to clarify something here. Some of the Leblanc Al Hirt trumpets have "Al Hirt" or maybe "Al Hirt Special" spelled out in raised letters along the side of the bell. I am assuming this is what the original poster means by "Al Hirt autographed trumpet". These are not rare, and seem to sell for the same price as the Leblanc Al Hirt trumpets without the name on the side. If the poster is referring to a trumpet that has been personally autographed by Al Hirt himself with a marking pen or the like, then there may be some additional collector value here. Putting the horn on e-bay is probably the best bet in either case.

I'd have to agree on the autographed value estimate.
I have a horn that has been signed too but I chose to use it for that rather than a lamp and use it as decoration in my game room _________________ IT Security Professional

|
|
I have an Al Hirt Autograph model and its one of about 300 and very rare from the 60s. Its got the raised silver letter autograph on the side of the bell in cursef and after that autograph model stamped in the brass. These have rose gold top and bottom caps and like the one they presented Al. I cant find any info on them however and have yet to see another one anywhere in 6 years , or on ebay. Anyone want to make an offer? thanks Rick |
