|
|
I started a Trumpet Eye Candy thread awhile ago and it had roughly 15500 hits then it developed a technical fault which has not been corrected...hence part 2.
It is always fun to see people's photographs of their beautiful horns either trumpet or flugel. I hope this new thread will be as successful as the last....post away.
I will start off with my Martin Committee large bore deluxe which arrived today from it's full restoration. After much soul searching I decided to leave it in raw brass.
Walter
Edited....OOPS!!!! Cornets and other trumpet related horns welcome...

OK, here's a serious one...
1870 Henry Lehnert rotary valve Bb cornet. Solid German silver, Allen valves, probably the rarest horn I own.

Gorgeous instrument! What kind of lighting did you use for that shot? Looks nice and diffused...
I have a LB Deluxe too and you're making me want to strip it to raw brass! (the finish isn't the greatest and I LOVE the raw brass look).
Here's a Buffet Crampon American style cornet:

Stylish cornet! Is that a trigger hiding back there? I love the round water key joints! _________________ "There is no necessity for deadly strife" A. Lincoln 1860

Looking through the computer for a nice photo which I haven't yet threw on you... Ah, this one, another shot of my 1927 Holton Revelation. A really nice player, expecially with a contemporary Holton Heim mouthpiece (I just have a Heim 1, anyone have a (old) Heim 2 for sale, PM me!)

I really like that one, guess it is the fittings and ferrules on the first valve slide that cathes me. And the fact that you keep the internal tuning slide tubes shiny! |

The horn was restored by Dr. Valve......he has done a great job. The horn was taken apart, some "body work" done, valves replated and alignment. The raw brass was very lightly buffed to a dull finish which should develop a nice patina in time.
The lighting for the photograph was natural light that was bounced and reflected with white cards.

Great one Dale, I had never noticed before that the reciever is copper too.
By the way, how do you compare the engraving style on the Lehnert with the Bach? I remember I have read on Jason Dumars' site that engraving the end of the bell is the most hard thing to do and that Lehnert has all engraving out on the end!
I'll help you PR the by Walter so terribly neglected ( ) cornets with this 30īs King which I played at our rehearsal this evening. It did match the surrounding trumpets!

Here is my 1936 Olds super Recording trumpet which is sulking in the corner due to the Martin Committee intruder....No worries...It's like Sophia Loren VS Bo Derick.....Not the same, just sort of different highs....

This was the SR B. CM (before Charlie Melk) It was raw brass but it had 2 dings and I decided to get it lacquered. He did a beautiful job. It makes you want to cry when you play it.......
