Hi mods,
Have sent a couple of messages but not sure if you're receiving them.
I'm suddenly unable to access the site from my home computer; it says I've been banned even before logging in. From other computers the site works fine (I'm posting this from a different computer).
Any thoughts? I recently had to have some work done on my broadband connection; maybe some setting have been changed? I'm at a loss here.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Rumor has it that you have been banned. From what I've heard, you cracked a note about 17 years ago and they just don't tolerate that kind of playing around here. Sorry. |

Or, you asked too many questions about bore size. _________________ 1938 Martin Handcraft Imperial #2 bore, 38 bell

In fairness, I cracked that note due to playing on the wrong bore size... |

Have you changed ISPs? It's possible your new home address (URL) has fallen into the "banned" category inadvertently... I'll post a note to the Mods, which is your best bet for handling something like this anyway (PM Moderators). - Don _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

Thanks Don.
I didn't change ISPs, but I suddenly lost connectivity, and after a very frustrating couple of days, my provider (Earthlink) changed something on my line and reset my modem remotely... perhaps my computer has a new IP address now? I don't really know, and only know enough about this stuff to get myself into trouble!

We've had issues with some ISPs, but I use Earthlink and have had no problems. I suspect something else -- change in firewall or something like that? Are cookies enabled for TH? If you can post from any location, you're not banned. I suspect your IP address has been changed by your ISP and your new home IP address was banned previously. Your Moderators can't un-ban an IP address.

Steve, it's looking like you need a banned-aid. |

Thanks everyone, especially the Moderator Other Than Don - you were right. Turns out you can usually change your IP address by just powering off your modem for 10 minutes or so. Problem solved!
And therefore no need for more jokes, though they took me way back to banned camp... |

From now on they might require you to log in wearing your banned-danna...
And if it's very sunny out you might have to wear your Ray Bann's... |
