I just got an older Bach Vindabona that's in kind of rough shape (plays great though), and I need an overhaul... Who does the best and/or most cost-efficient overhauls? Thanks. _________________ "eventually, the listeners move right along with the musicians." -john coltrane

I would send my horn to one person and only one person....
Charlie Melk - he also knows more about Bach's than anyone I think.
Vindabona's are classics and I wish there were more of them out there. They have a very unique sound that I don't think has been recreated by any current or past step bore horn.
I know I am kicking myself for selling mine but I just couldn't afford to have it along with my other horns.

I second that!
Charlie is phenominal! And quite easy to work with. He restored my '49 Committee and made it better than the factory. _________________ WAR EAGLE ! ! !

He must be!
When I bought mine in Early November 2008 The previous owner had Charlie do the complete overhaul on it and it is gorgeous! But the previous owner mailed it to me in the original case
NOTE: DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER DO THAT!!!!!
The horn moved around in the case and put a bad dent in the bell curve. I called Charlie and he said he would fix it but not to send it to him until early January '09. Partly because he was busy and partly because mine was going to have to be re-lacquered afer repairs and he wasn't going to be lacquering til the.
I sent it off and had it back in about a week and a half!
I'll say it again.... His reputation is WELL DESERVED! _________________ WAR EAGLE ! ! !

I've never had any work done by Charlie, but his reputation on TH is sterling.
Also contact Jim Becker at Osmun...there are none better.

The guy who did that C Radial is Bill Meyer at St Louis Woodwind and Brasswind. He does great work. |

Tom Green did this Bach 43H. His workmanship is as good as others mentioned here. Go to www.greensbuff.com and check out the pictures of various projects he has done. |

Pettifor's in Elkhart, Indiana does really nice overhauls. Not the fastest, not the cheapest, but really good. _________________ Richard Hastings
