On this side of the pond, Pledge is suggested by most techs I have asked. That's a spray furniture polish, so you probably have something like it over there. Apply lightly, let sit a few seconds, then wipe off. Don't let it dry or it will build up. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

After a quick search, I only found the Pledge "Classic Beauty" spray, not the lemon (in Norway). Do you think it matters? |

No, not really. Some prefer the lemon, but I've also heard the argument that the lemon may degrade the lacquer over time.
Wash, then Pledge, your "classic beauty".. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

Just to sum up on the polishing products: Pledge furniture polish is great for lacquered horns. Tarni-Shield, Twinkle and Hagerty Silversmith's Polish seem to be popular for silver horns.
What should I do with vintage horns that have lost a lot of lacquer, though? Will Pledge do fine although much lacquer is gone?? |
