Welcome Carnarus,
Hit the"Search" button and you'll find tons of discussions on the Aebersol stuff. We all cut our teeth on that stuff at your age . . . even old farts like me (I'm 51). I still use 'em today too!
The Aebersol stuff has been around for a long time because it works!
Good luck!
Sincerely,
Tom Turner |

I believe Canarus is asking who might be attending the Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops this July in Louisville, Kentucky. Am I correct?
The trumpet faculty will again include Scott Wendholt, Jim Rotondi, Jim Ketch, me, and several other fine players and educators.

I started out playing with Aebersold records, and most of the songs are in written keys! _________________ Playing music is better than playing notes!

My holiday got booked for the same week, damn it.
Can someone recommend an Aebersold book to get, I got the catalogue and I'm a little bewildered as what I should go for. I have Volume 1, but I'm looking for something with some standard charts to help my playing changes (should I go for the rythmn changes one?)
Also, PH, do you remember a little guy called Henry Amburg-Jennings from the London course last year? He's a friend of mine, and an awesome player for his age. |
