Have any of you guys in the ITG recieved your Phil Smith CD: Solos for the Young Trumpet Player? What do you think of it? I just got it today. Phil must be one of the greats! He's a great player! This CD is must, especially for me.

yeah, I got mine yesterday. He is amazing! I had only ever heard two of the songs, so this cd is a nice change from most of the trumpet cd's I have, which have a lot of the same thing on them. I guess a lot of those songs aren't on our state's solo listing... oh well, the cd is great!

Mine came today and I listened to the first six tracks on a walkman while waiting at my five-year-old daughter's speech therapy appointment. When she came out, she spotted the walkman and wanted to listen and on the way home listened to the first ten tracks. So this became her first-ever walkman CD. She said it's good and she's always right about stuff like this. |

I'm currently working on Badinage by Bozza. I heard Phil's version on that CD and liked what I heard. Phil took different interpretations than those written but they all made sense. I'm sure this CD will be of use to many people.

Did anyone out there catch Phil at the 1982 ITG conference? He played a solo recital with Joseph Turrin that changed my life. I knew how I wanted to sound after that. What a great musician!!!
