I believe that he means that his valve section has a little more resistance than the more free blowing Zirnbauer valve set.

Jonolan: I meant resistance.
The Mnozil guys play Schagerl trumpets. I have two, and I love them. They use Zirnbauer valves. The Z valve is a high volume valve than the typical rotary. there is no solder joint between each valve in the line, and the valves are a little farther apart as a result. Anyway.. the Zirnbauer valve section is a dream to play. I am having a section made for my flugelhorn... and will report back. Those valves also cost more than some trumpets.
The video is really stop motion. The camera took a picture every 30 seconds, and then I put the video together. I will do another one (less bare feet though: too creepy)
Lipshurt: I have never noticed anything with playing the rotaries... but the are different (short leadpipe) so if you noticed something, maybe there is something. Just have to wait and see. I will be a little sad to see it go, but I will come visit it _________________ Schagerl "Gansch" Vienna Trumpet Schagerl "Gansch" Horsdorf Heavy

I actually wanted the whole set. Bb (x2) C(x2) Bass trumpet, and Piccolo. After I got my Zirnbauer picc... the Tristan (a really nice instrument) came off the list. And everytime I go for another, the wife stops me with, "why don't you just make your own?"
Thats wife logic for you. I told her that if she just let me get the collection I wanted, then we wouldn't have all of these tools, and bells, and valves laying around (and all of that cost more).
Bless her anyway. If it wasn't for her, and Karl.... I would just be sitting in front of the TV watching Star Wars. _________________ Schagerl "Gansch" Vienna Trumpet Schagerl "Gansch" Horsdorf Heavy

Cool video! Was he sitting in his living room working on a TV tray and watching old re-runs of Charlie's Angels while working on it? :0) Really, that was pretty neat to see.
Thanks! |

I was privileged earlier in the year when passing through Singapore to spend a couple of hours at George's shop and met Jon, they were fine tuning Jon's horn which was close to finished. It was great to see a craftsman work with his client, changing leadpipes, making and fitting extra brace, altering its position after each time the horn was played.
Unfortunately I was unable to play any of George's horns as I had aquired an awful cold in England a couple of days previously.
Regards, Stuart. |

The third-line C is a critical note, for sure. I didn't notice any particular problem on the soundtrack; sounded good!
Best wishes to the custom trumpet maker, really interesting concept. |

Yourbrass: I didn't notice anything, but I don't hear it the way other people hear it. Thanks, but the Concept was from Karl, and Robert Schagerl, and Bernhard Zirnbauer. They wanted to make a horn that Thomas would love, and they have.
AS for the rest of the concept, I'll take credit for the reverse tuning slide, and some of the other things I added. _________________ Schagerl "Gansch" Vienna Trumpet Schagerl "Gansch" Horsdorf Heavy

Cool horn, Trent! That was a fun video of it being built and it sounds great in this last clip. Nice Flaxen quote. Sounds a little tight up top. Is that just not being warmed up, or is this horn strictly for the money register? _________________ Adams A4 Shepherds Crook Bb
